Canna Provisions Holyoke for some is the end result of searching “dispensary near me” for legal adult-use anywhere near Chicopee, Northampton, Springfield, and other points in Western Massachusetts.

LET’S START WITH PYROGENIK. WHAT IS IT?
It’s a spinoff of the word Pyrogenic, the definition being “producing or produced by fever” or “caused by or generating heat”. I chose this as an artist alias six or so years ago because my romantic life tends to be the primary catalyst for my art. It was fitting to align a name that I found descriptive with that part of my life.
LOVE THE SURREALIST CROSS OF INFLUENCES AND ACRYLIC NUANCE. WHY SKELETONS?
I have been fascinated with mortality and the macabre since I was a kid, and bones represent our truest and barest self.
WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION IN MASSACHUSETTS?
My inspiration comes from my life, so I could be anywhere in the world and my drive stays consistent. My inspiration is my personal experiences and my relationships are my muses.
ANY BACKSTORY TO THAT ARTISTIC WORLDVIEW THAT’S NOTICEABLE IN YOUR WORK GIVEN YOUR DEPICTIONS OF DUALITY-WITH-A-WINK?
I think that attraction to creating art involving skeletons, skulls, and bones is instinctive for some people. Skeletons, skulls, and bones appear [and are] prevalent throughout art history all across the world because they are a reminder of our mortality. They also represent strength, transformation, and are symbolic of our origins of inanimate matter. These are the reasons they appeal to me as subject matter.
DO YOU EXPERIMENT IN OTHER MEDIUMS?
I don’t. I’m really happy with just painting.
WHAT DO YOU HEAR MOST ABOUT YOUR WORK FROM PEOPLE THAT YOU LOVE? WHAT ABOUT MISCONCEPTIONS?
I hear all the time that my paintings are visceral, that they remind people of a time, or place, or person in their life. Art is subject to interpretation. So if someone takes from a painting the far opposite of what I was intending when I painted it, they are still correct in what they see. Art belongs to the viewer, and every person has a different perception. There is no such thing as “wrong” in art as far as I’m concerned.
WHAT DOES GETTING A CHANCE TO SHOWCASE YOUR ART IN A LOCAL CANNABIS DISPENSARY LIKE CANNA PROVISIONS MEAN TO YOU AS A SOLO ARTIST?
The past few years most of the events I’m involved in are out of state, big city art shows, and music festivals. Showcasing at Canna provisions give me a chance to reconnect and be active in my home community.
