International Women’s Day 2022 (IWD 22) falls in March, but at Canna Provisions it could be said that every month is a month to celebrate, listen to, promote, mentor, and inspire women.
Especially since all that happens right here, at the #1 woman-owned adult-use cannabis dispensary in Western Mass. Between our staff (as of March 2022) being comprised of roughly 41% women — from budtenders and early-career employees right up through senior management, directors, executive leadership/C-suite, and CEO Meg Sanders has been called a Woman in Weed to watch several times — Canna Provisions is a Northeast leader in gender diversity within the company’s ranks.
And to help create a better landscape of data, Canna Provisions recently teamed up with the Women in Cannabis study led by Jennifer Whetzel, who set out with her team back in 2019 to create a rigorous database of crucial intelligence from qualitative interviews and surveys of more than 1,500 women and nonbinary participants across the cannabis industry.
And it was just picked up in Forbes, among other places. From the findings they reported:
The majority of respondents shared that they came to the cannabis industry because of their passion for and experience with the plant (72%) whether they have been personally helped (68%), or they have witnessed its healing power through friends or family (45%). Women also have great interest in bringing their skills, knowledge and wisdom into this newly legal industry (71%). Financial opportunity (60%) proved women are less likely to rank this as one of their top three reasons for joining the industry. Full story here.
Meg Sanders was proud to be able to sponsor the study and continue to be a national leader in cannabis, as evidenced by this Women in Cannabis study bio of the Canna Provisions CEO:
