What are the 3 most effective strategies you use to retain employees?
I look at employee retention as a three-legged stool. Without any of the legs, it will just fall over, so you have to make sure you have all three.
The first one is appealing to present-day needs. This includes paying a livable wage and making sure employees have a safe workplace.
Second is helping them build security for the future. Providing whatever benefits package you can, whether it’s health insurance, life insurance, or a retirement plan. This keeps people engaged because they know they are building for the future.
Third is appealing to their heart. Get them connected to your mission and excited about what you do so they won’t look for another opportunity or be swayed by some company dangling another dollar in their face. Everyone is motivated by these three legs of the stool, although it varies which is the most important, but if you think about all of these, you’ll be in good shape.
