WHAT HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE LOCAL INDUSTRY TAUGHT YOU SO FAR ABOUT RESILIENCE AS AN ENTREPRENEUR? WHAT WAS THE HIGHEST HIGH FOR YOU SO FAR, AND THE LOWEST LOW FOR COMPARISON?

We were the first cannabis retailer to apply in Haverhill and although the voters backed legalization, the elected officials weren’t exactly thrilled about it and we had immediate opposition from business neighbors. Plus I was pregnant. But I stuck with our plan, never let anything stop us from moving forward. That was the key to it all.  

As a cannabis entrepreneur, adversity is the name of the game. I don’t think anyone who has successfully opened an operation in MA would say it has been as easy road. While there is always going to be challenges, such as local government, neighbors, and education around cannabis, our love of cannabis and the opportunity to pave the way in an emerging industry always trumped those challenges and kept us moving forward.

AS AN INDEPENDENT FEMALE CEO IN A MALE DOMINATED INDUSTRY, HOW DOES IT FEEL TO PARTNER WITH ONE OF THE OTHER DYNAMIC WOMEN LEADERS IN THE MA CANNABIS SPACE? 

Working with an industry legend like Meg Sanders is a personal honor for me. What Meg has done as an entrepreneur and as a business woman is amazing. As a woman, and as a fellow entrepreneur, it’s important to me to partner with someone who has walked the same path and who has the same commitment to community, equity, social justice and empowering women in all aspects of their professional lives.

WHAT DOES BEING THE FIRST RETAIL OUTLET IN THE STATE OUTSIDE OF CANNA PROVISIONS TO CARRY SMASH HITS? 

When we were presented with the opportunity to meet Chemdog [and the Smash Hits team] we had no idea it would lead to us one day carrying their products in our store. Just getting to hear the passion and enthusiasm that they have for the cannabis plant and the art of growing, left us extremely inspired. When we tell our customers they are smoking Chemdog flower, grown by Chemdog himself, their mouths drop open.

It’s a huge honor to be able to carry Smash Hits at Stem Haverhill and bring this prestigious flower line to the North Shore cannabis community in Massachusetts.
